By the Numbers Week 3: Keeping Cadence

OK kids, time is tight so this week is going to be brief. I promise a little more next time.

Walking is the easiest exercise on my plate. It doesn’t require any sort of special coordination and it can be done just about anywhere I am going to be. Like so many other things in life, you will get out of it what you put into it. To this end, I give you my lunch hour walking play list. It’s this song (approximately 12 minutes long) played 5 times back to back. If you want to play along at home, the game is simple. When the main drum beat is playing, your footfalls should match it. In the rare moments where the drums are gone, take it as a cool down and walk at whatever pace you like. Some of you may already walk at this speed (the thought of which bewilders me) and if you do, rock on with your bad self. For us fatties though, this should prove to get your heart going. 5 revolutions of this song should equate to an hour that will leave you with twitchy legs and a shirt soaked with sweat.
